Growth 101: So, what next?

Growth 101: So, what next?

Much time has passed since I’ve last posted. A couple months if I’m not mistaken. Why? Well I didn’t know what to write about, I wasn’t sure where to take this. I was at a blockade. I’m speaking to you honestly when I say that I’m not sure what I’m doing.

I made the big change, moving up north to Muskoka, yet I see the summer slowly winding down. The thought of then next season is something I’m not sure about. Yet, I’ve had a hell of a time.

I want to be somewhere where I can continue to grow, is this the place for me, who knows. What I know is that the people I’ve met and friends that I’ve made will be treasured for a lifetime.

There are so many great people here with a story to tell, a reason why they’re here. Whether it be for good or bad; question remains, why am I here?

Taking a moment to reflect, I realized that I’ve changed since arriving. I’m more relaxed, in the best shape of my life, my golf handicap is to a single digit, I’m ridiculously tan; but what else?

In terms of where I want to take my life from is uncertain. What I do know is that following my passion and doing what I love has given me incredible satisfaction.

So is that what life is all about? Doing what you love and enjoying life? I still feel as though there’s much I need to do and give back.

I’m lucky enough that I love to write and I feel as though I’m pretty fucking good at it. What can I say, my vocabulary is vast, however sometimes those words really help enunciate the point.

Any who, if you’re reading this and wondering, what’s his next move. Well confession, I don’t know. I’ve become quite comfortable with change and risk. The fact I took it, makes it easier to make the jump again. Where I’ll land, well that’s the million dollar question.

What I do know for certain is that I want a way to continue the lifestyle that I’ve enjoyed, but I need a variation or else I fall in the perpetual lifestyle of comfort (I’ll avoid that, thanks).

I missed writing this blog, but where shall we go from here. I have a few plans in the works. Time will reveal them, actions will show and words will be few.

The world is a big place, I want to experience it. I want to continue to inspire and motivate people, while at the same time growing as a person. My spiritual, mental and physical aspects of my person have grown drastically.  Where shall we take these new found skills?

Ladies and gents, we’ll get back together soon. I’ve changed, so my blog should reflect it.

Changes are coming. Here we go!

Thanks for stopping by, peace and love!

Growth 101: Committing to Change

Growth 101: Committing to Change

Before we get started.

For this post, I’m trying something new. I’d like you to please play this song while you read my post. Allow it to pump you up, while at the same time creating an immersive atmosphere for the post itself.

Committing to Change

Change; a word that for some is impossible. However, others view it as means of growing and ultimately creating a new life for themselves. Nothing changes over night, but commitment to change allows ourselves an opportunity to become more.

“Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.”

George Bernard Shaw

I’ve been committed to some major changes in my life. Before I committed to my changes, I was fearful of what could happen, rather than what would happen. What was scarier was that I could be in the exact same place next year.

I had to formulate a plan, a means of setting myself up for success.

The major changes I laid out for myself were:

  1. Get in shape
    • Image result for 80s workout gifs
  2. Genuinely connect with people
    • Image result for hello gifs
  3. Create my own happiness
    • Image result for jim carrey happy gifs
  4. Spread positivity and inspire people
    • Image result for you can do it gif

I had these four ideas as a means of changing my life. The question remains, how?

“No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world.”

Robin Williams

For my first goal of getting in shape, I decided to get rid of my car and bike/run everywhere. As well as incorporate other activities into my daily routine. Not only has this physically and mentally transformed me, the energy I have now is incredible. I feel like I’m accelerating. Faster and faster, growing and improving myself. I can say that I’m in the best shape of my life, but it’s only getting better. I balance this with a very healthy diet of veggies and meats, very little carbs, cutting sugar (except the odd treat from time to time) and lots of water. My body loves me back, I can feel it.

The second, by disconnecting my cell phone I’m now more genuinely engaged in the interactions I have on a daily basis. There’s no longer a superficial “Hey, what’s up?” digital interaction, there’s a heartfelt conversation with people. It’s quite powerful. I’d forgotten what it’s like to be in the moment.

Image result for no cell phone gif

Third, by doing more of what I love. I now everyday go for a paddle-board, golf, bike, run, meditate, play tennis, write, read, cook healthy delicious food and connect with more people. At work I give everything I have to add value to everything I do. No matter who you are, what you do or where you’re from; everyone is treated accordingly, the same.

Finally, my goal for spreading love and positivity, along with inspiration. I had to find a way to utilise my abilities to help build people up. My talents lay in both the verbal sense and written word. I have a skill in speaking, I’m also a strong(ish) writer. I have these means to spread my message. I have a responsibility to use the talents I was gifted with to engage, inspire, motivate and ultimately get you to follow your dreams. There’s nothing more exciting than people pursuing their dreams and a life they’ve dreamed of. You can do whatever you’d like. Just make that change.

What’s stopping you? Think about it.

The ability to commit to change is like a muscle, work it out. The more changes you make, the more comfortable you get with change. Furthermore, the more often you make changes, the better chances you have of following through with them.

I can say this from a first person perspective. Now from the outside looking in, I’ve made the changes. I’m committing and reaping the benefits.

The bell has struck midnight, a new day has began. Make the changes you know are necessary for your success. The video below is a spot on visualization for change and the motivation you need to improve. Enjoy.

Continue to grow, love each other and become more.

A pleasure as always, thank you for stopping by. Have a a great day.

Growth 101: How did you get there? Be Phenomenal!

Growth 101: How did you get there? Be Phenomenal!

Growth is in Risk.

Before we even get going. This video is one that I downloaded into an audio file about 3 years ago. I listened to it EVERYDAY! This fires me up and forces my mind to focus on my goals!

We’re all told as kids that if we go to school , learn a  subject and then pursue post-secondary that we will get a job. Is it the dream job or the life you’ve dreamed of?

Well I’m going after my dreams now. This is merely a preview and a resource for anyone looking for inspiration and motivation to do something new and exciting. More than that, a career that’s ultimately fulfilling! That makes you wake up and say…

c/o giphy

What you’re not told is how to get these amazing jobs you aspire to. Whether that’s creating your own company, finding a path to the ideal career or growing into the role you want. There’s really no blueprint to get you there.

So what do we do? We try and find something that’s safe and comfortable. However that’s NOT how you grow. You have to push yourself outside of that comfort zone.

Well what resources are available? The world is at your finger tips, anything you could ever want is just a few clicks away.

From TED talks to Kahn AcademyInvestopedia to Reddit; these are just a few useful resources available to you for FREE. These allow you to grow and improve your mind.

To grow you have to change your entire mindset.

c/o inblix.com

I first realized I was in control of my future was when I read ‘Think and Grow Rich‘, by: Napoleon Hill, ‘As a Man Thinketh‘, by: James Allen and ‘From Poverty to Power‘, by: James Allen. These books ultimately changed how I looked at the world and my own thoughts. Especially how I let them affect me.

What you put out, is what you reap. As James Allen once said,“A man’s mind may be likened to a garden, which may be intelligently cultivated or allowed to run wild; but whether cultivated or neglected, it must, and will, bring forth. If no useful seeds are put into it, then an abundance of useless weed seeds will fall therein, and will continue to produce their kind.” You control your future!

Here are all the books for FREE:

READ THEM!

If this doesn’t get you ready to hit the ground running, well Ali will get you going!

This post is to act as a way to PUMP YOU UP! You have to work your ASS off to become something great.

There’s really no traditional blue-print, other than the one you create. Someone I respect gave me this. It’s a way of outlining your goals for your life. Look at them everyday. Make them your obsession. Be as specific as possible!

Here are the goal setting checklists and plans:

These are resources! Focus, think, re-focus, adjust and GROW!

This is how we finish: BE PHENOMENAL!

Today is your day. There is no better time than NOW! You have everything you need to be great. It’s now a matter of putting it into practice and creating the future and life that you’ve dreamed of. Keep dreaming, keeping fighting, keep pushing! GRIND! Greatness is on the other side!

Thanks for coming by. I’ll see you at the top!

Growth 101: Here’s an idea. Do something with yours!

Growth 101: Here’s an idea. Do something with yours!

FAIL your way to SUCCESS.

We’ve all come up with that million dollar idea. But what do we do with them?

We know it’ll work.

Why don’t we pursue it further? What’s the reason why we don’t create the life we’ve dreamed of?

I’ve been guilty of it. I mean there’s a reason why my family calls me the idea man. It’s like anything, the more effort you put behind something, the more we get. Yes thinking about it is essential, however action makes all the difference. You need to lay out what you’ll do, how you’ll do it and why there’s a need for it. It will all come together.

Yes, sometimes all we need is a…simple plan.

Back to it, you need to have faith in your idea. More importantly, we CANNOT be afraid to fail.

In the words of Michael Jordan: “To learn to succeed, you must first learn to fail.”

When we come up with something, it doesn’t matter what it is, you need to JUST DO IT (see what I did there).

I can speak from experience, I mean this blog is the epitome of an idea. It has ultimately come together and I’m so happy I put action behind it. Initially I was fearful on how people would receive it. But then it hit me…

Never stop because of what you THINK people will say.

Yes, another quote, but hold on to your saddle; this one’s relevant.

Action leads to satisfaction, honestly, just try something new. Growth comes from taking chances.

Well, don’t go to crazy. Actually, do it. Why not? There’s no reason not too. Don’t be afraid to break the rules, laws not so much, but rules are meant to be broken!

Mr.Black (Schneebly) has a very good point. Thanks Ned.

I wouldn’t be where I am if i hadn’t broken a few (lot) of rules along the way.

As Steve Jobs once said: The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.

There are rules to success though. Arnold Schwarzenegger has SIX rules to success.

This video is ultimately what inspired me to follow my passion and try something new. I queued it up to the best part. Watch this:

So let’s review.

  1. Trust Yourself
  2. Break The Rules
  3. Don’t Be Afraid To Fail
  4. Don’t Listen To The Naysayers
  5. Work Your Butt Off
  6. Give Back

Here is a link to the text version of his rules and why6 Rules of Success.

To conclude.

Take a chance. Make that idea happen. Go for it!

Never let up, never give up, NEVER settle!

You have the ability to do great things. All greatness starts as an IDEA.

If you got one, PURSUE IT!

A pleasure as always. Thanks for stopping by.

Growth 101: This thing called life. Do you know it?

Growth 101: This thing called life. Do you know it?

Wake, Skate, Schwarzenegger.

Everyday we look at where we are. We try to figure out how we can reach our goals. More than that, how can we use the present moment to our advantage?

Do you know who you are, what you love, how you’ll grow?

How do you know that you’re truly living? As a serious question; Are you living?

Now I’m not talking about eating, sleeping, working and socializing (yes, even Pokemon Go`n). I mean LIVING, are you reaching your fullest potential? Are you becoming the person you dreamed of? Heck, have you even begun to set goals and plans for how you`ll achieve them? I’m not trying to intimidate you, but there is truly no better time than now to live in the moment.

I’m closest to truly living in the moment when I’m on the edge. Whether it`s skateboarding or wakeskating. Here’s why:

Skateboarding at Markham Skate Park

Skateboarding

You may ask yourself, why skateboarding? Well for one you HAVE to be in the moment or you’re going to take a serious spill (setback). You have to have full confidence in your abilities, or else you will get hurt (miss your target). Committing everything you have to your trick (goal) is the best chance you have of reaching it. If you hesitate, the opportunity may pass by. Every move you make affects the results of what you’re doing. Lean too far to one side, you fall. Too much to the other, the same result. It’s about balance. There’s something to that when compared to life. The better your balance, the stronger your growth and progression. Combine that with commitment and focus, it`s a recipe for success.

Wakeskating on Lake Muskoka

Wakeskating (Wiki)

When you’re behind the boat, there’s nothing more than you and the water. You carve left and carve right, you feel free. No bindings to hold you down, you have full control of your movements. There is no stress, no jealousy, no anger; only the moment. You are forced to live in the moment or face the consequences of falling. Especially when learning a new trick, or in life when acquiring a new skill. That being said, there’s something to that, the ability to pick yourself back up and try again. You’re forced to be in that moment. In other words, when you are closest to failure is when you’re truly living. Once you’ve met failure, you dust yourself off, learn from the experience and try again.

Reaching your goals and taking chances are fundamental to success. By taking that chance and going for it, you’re already further ahead than the majority.

Hasta-La-Vista Hesitation!

One of the best and most inspiring examples I’ve ever heard, was the story of Arnold Schwarzenegger, a boy from Austria with a name no one could pronounce (yet). If he didn’t take the chance, he wouldn’t be who he is now. There’s always a way. FIND IT. The following video is 12 minutes of the most inspiring tale you will hear. That is, until you write yours.

Let’s take a step back and look at exactly what living is. It’s how we go about each and every moment of our lives. Making the most of every moment while utilizing focus and commitment to find a balance that leads to our own personal growth.

So, how do we get there?

Well, that’s the million dollar question. So go out and find it. Because no one is going to knock on your door and say, “excuse me, all of those hopes and dreams you’ve wanted…well here you go, no need to work for it.”

Thanks for dropping by. It’s been a pleasure.

Growth 101: Change, can you spare some?

Growth 101: Change, can you spare some?

Every day comes with a set of new decisions to be made and actions to be taken that ultimately determine who we are. We consistently fall into the same routine, doing the same things with an expectation of a different result. Take a moment and think about the following.

When you wake up in the morning do you think…

A: Here we go! Time to go make my mark on this world!

Boo Yeah!

B: What am I doing? Where am I going?

Don’t we all sometimes?

C: Ugh, you can to do this. Come on…wake up…let’s go body. Forget it, I’m sick.

Five more minutes!

There are career goals, life goals, relationship goals and of course #SquadGoals. Yet I find myself trying to really breakdown what I want and how I’m going to do it.

Today I’ve decided that I’m starting a blog. I want to be able to see the world and bring my experiences and insights to the anyone willing to read and listen.

It’s new and uncharted territory for me, however it’s a step in the right direction. That’s the key, it’s an effort (no matter how large or small) in the direction that I want. Crawl before you walk, walk before you run. I’m taking a chance, rolling the dice, making change.

There’s a quote from Steve Jobs that really resonates with me, he talks about connecting the dots in your life. You can never connect them looking forward but you always can looking backwards. The video below is queued to his quote. (If you have time, watch his entire speech, VERY inspiring).

You have to trust in yourself. In other words, you never know the potential of every thought, decision and action.

Here’s an idea, DO SOMETHING NEW! If it’s uncomfortable; you’re growing!

Be the person you’ve always dreamed of and never let anyone stop you from it!

This has been a pleasure. Cheers.
