Growth 101: Committing to Change

Growth 101: Committing to Change

Before we get started.

For this post, I’m trying something new. I’d like you to please play this song while you read my post. Allow it to pump you up, while at the same time creating an immersive atmosphere for the post itself.

Committing to Change

Change; a word that for some is impossible. However, others view it as means of growing and ultimately creating a new life for themselves. Nothing changes over night, but commitment to change allows ourselves an opportunity to become more.

“Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.”

George Bernard Shaw

I’ve been committed to some major changes in my life. Before I committed to my changes, I was fearful of what could happen, rather than what would happen. What was scarier was that I could be in the exact same place next year.

I had to formulate a plan, a means of setting myself up for success.

The major changes I laid out for myself were:

  1. Get in shape

  2. Genuinely connect with people

  3. Create my own happiness

  4. Spread positivity and inspire people

I had these four ideas as a means of changing my life. The question remains, how?

“No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world.”

Robin Williams

For my first goal of getting in shape, I decided to get rid of my car and bike/run everywhere. As well as incorporate other activities into my daily routine. Not only has this physically and mentally transformed me, the energy I have now is incredible. I feel like I’m accelerating. Faster and faster, growing and improving myself. I can say that I’m in the best shape of my life, but it’s only getting better. I balance this with a very healthy diet of veggies and meats, very little carbs, cutting sugar (except the odd treat from time to time) and lots of water. My body loves me back, I can feel it.

The second, by disconnecting my cell phone I’m now more genuinely engaged in the interactions I have on a daily basis. There’s no longer a superficial “Hey, what’s up?” digital interaction, there’s a heartfelt conversation with people. It’s quite powerful. I’d forgotten what it’s like to be in the moment.

Third, by doing more of what I love. I now everyday go for a paddle-board, golf, bike, run, meditate, play tennis, write, read, cook healthy delicious food and connect with more people. At work I give everything I have to add value to everything I do. No matter who you are, what you do or where you’re from; everyone is treated accordingly, the same.

Finally, my goal for spreading love and positivity, along with inspiration. I had to find a way to utilise my abilities to help build people up. My talents lay in both the verbal sense and written word. I have a skill in speaking, I’m also a strong(ish) writer. I have these means to spread my message. I have a responsibility to use the talents I was gifted with to engage, inspire, motivate and ultimately get you to follow your dreams. There’s nothing more exciting than people pursuing their dreams and a life they’ve dreamed of. You can do whatever you’d like. Just make that change.

What’s stopping you? Think about it.

The ability to commit to change is like a muscle, work it out. The more changes you make, the more comfortable you get with change. Furthermore, the more often you make changes, the better chances you have of following through with them.

I can say this from a first person perspective. Now from the outside looking in, I’ve made the changes. I’m committing and reaping the benefits.

The bell has struck midnight, a new day has began. Make the changes you know are necessary for your success. The video below is a spot on visualization for change and the motivation you need to improve. Enjoy.

Continue to grow, love each other and become more.

A pleasure as always, thank you for stopping by. Have a a great day.

Growth 101: A New Chapter to be Written

Growth 101: A New Chapter to be Written

A New Beginning

It’s happened, I did it. I’ve taken the leap of faith and MY GOD does it feel good. I can say that I’m more excited than ever to wake up in the morning and see what the world has in store.

I’m happy and free from the bull. It’s empowering to say that this is exactly what I needed and I’m the happier than ever to be to be doing what I am.

I’m now living in Muskoka; living the dream.  I’m cycling every day, running, filming, connecting and GOLFING! I couldn’t be happier. When everything goes as planned I’ll be out on the water everyday either paddle-boarding, wake-boarding, wake-skating or wake-surfing. Plus some fly-boarding too.

Now I’m not doing this rant to humble brag or rub it in. I’m doing it to show you that you can take a chance at what you love and IT’S WORTH IT!

On the other side of fear is happiness. SO TAKE THAT CHANCE!

I love what I’m doing. Let me say that again, I LOVE WHAT I DO.

Plus I made sure to put myself in a situation where I can be the person I want to become. Growth is an absolute. Life is only getting better. Accelerating, momentum building, life becomes what I want it to be. I’M IN CONTROL!

Take Control

So take control of your life. Don’t just think that the way things are, will be the way life will continue. You control your destiny. SO MAKE IT INCREDIBLE. We only have so much time here. Don’t just be satisfied with your ‘job‘, do what you’re destined for. You know what that is, so pursue that dream and love each and everyday.

I’m so grateful for this opportunity, I have a responsibility to give back and try to improve life in anyway I can. No matter how big or small the gesture is, always try to leave life better than you found it!

What I’m really getting at is, only you set the restrictions of life upon yourself. Remove the invisible shackles of a stagnate life and embrace the power of your own potential. Follow your heart, go for it, do it! The only limitations are those that you set on yourself. REMOVE THEM!

Growth = Happiness, so GROW! Grow higher and faster than ever before. A mighty redwood must first start in the soil and below the ground. You have to start somewhere, but you will grow. With time and perseverance you rise from the ground and become so strong and solid that nothing will ever knock you down. The mightiest trees survive the mightiest winds, you can rise, grow and become something that you didn’t think was possible.

Believe in yourself, believe in the impossible because only you can make it possible. You will. I believe in you. You will do it. Why not?

Never stop, every time you fall, you have something to take away, learn and do it again! You got this! Your dreams are not merely in your head, take those ideas, formulate a plan and GO FOR IT!

In Conclusion

I say to you all, life’s too amazing to let slip by. Take your chance, go for it, you are in control. Quit that shitty job, find your propose and live the life you know you were meant for. Work hard, give back, love each other, a million small gestures change the world.

Change your world!

Thanks for stopping by. A pleasure as always.

Growth 101: Comfortably Uncomfortable.

Growth 101: Comfortably Uncomfortable.

Comfort vs. Discomfort

Hello friends, hope you’re doing well. Toss on your swim suit because we’re diving in.

Comfort-zone to discomfort-zone real quick.

There’s always change and flux in our lives that, in turn, we crave that safe feeling of comfort. When you take a moment to reflect on comfort versus discomfort, there are few thoughts that come to mind. In times of discomfort you’re forced to grow or learn in order to adapt to the situation.

Whether that’s learning how to socialise at networking events or even physically when you’re younger and experiencing growing pains. There is discomfort but from that discomfort comes strength, confidence and a distinct ability to endure. You’ve grown, you’ve become more.

“If you want something you’ve never had.
You must be willing to do something you’ve never done.”

-Thomas Jefferson

What does discomfort mean to you? Are you afraid of it?

Image result for uncomfortable gifs

Anything that’s challenging the way you conduct yourself presently, forces you to adapt. You can choose to rise to the occasion or admit defeat and stay exactly where you are.

The choice is entirely yours.

The cliche comment is always to ‘step out side your comfort-zone.’

Image result for comfort zone gifs

I think the question is not whether we should step out, rather why aren’t we living outside of out. If you’re always uncomfortable, you’re growing. Like a tree, the faster you establish a firm foundation, your ability to rise will be greatly benefited.

“Solitary trees, if they grow at all, grow strong.”

Winston Churchill

That’s not to say that you shouldn’t have a place where you feel comfortable. I think it’s a balance, in my opinion having that comfort zone is equally important. Because if you’re always uncomfortable, it’s nice to have a place where you can reflect on what you’ve learned. If you’re going to be comfortable, make sure you’re using that time to reflect on the experiences of the uncomfortable. You’ll see more, know more and be more.

I leave you with this video. Enjoy. Reflect. Grow.

Thanks for dropping by, until next time. Cheers!

Growth 101: An Attitude on Gratitude.

Growth 101: An Attitude on Gratitude.

It’s that time of the year again. Yes, the holidays always bring out the best in people (besides Boxing Day shopping). There’s a greater sense of positivity and gratitude towards each person. As well, we’re thinking of others.

The fact we’re thinking of others is an important aspect of life. It shows how appreciative you are and how much you care about them.

But it doesn’t have to be once a year, we can practice gratitude everyday. Ultimately creating a much happier and healthier mindset along the way.

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.

– John F. Kennedy

I know I’m guilty of sometimes thinking negatively, however if you take a moment to think how grateful you are for the things in your life, it brings you to a much happier state of mind.

It doesn’t take much to be grateful, your attitude towards gratitude should be a primary thought process. By doing so, you’re in the moment and not giving a thought to anything negative. As positivity and negativity are a part of our lives, we choose how they affect us.

Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.

– Denis Waitley

Be grateful, be thankful, appreciate what you have as there was once a day when you hoped for everything you have now.

Everyone is on their own journey. Enjoy yours.

As well here is a great article from INC magazine featuring a number of famous quotes on gratitude, enjoy! Article.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a pleasure as always.

Growth 101: Your past has passed.

Growth 101: Your past has passed.

Yes, lets cut to the chase. It’s been sometime since I’ve posted. Why, well there’s a number of excuses, not one is a good reason.

Let’s jump into it.

We are the culmination of every decision we make, whether good or bad, positive or negative. Ultimately these have shaped us into the person the we see in the mirror each and everyday.

That being said, do these choices linger or do we CHOOSE to make another decision.

Image result for shouldnt have done that gifs

The decision to start something different, try something new or make peace with your past.

We all have decisions that we make that will affect us for the rest of our lives, make sure they’re positive. Yes, even negative decisions can come as a blessing to give you perspective on your life. More to the point, they show us how lucky we are and how grateful we should be for the people in our lives that support you, help you and love you. Cherish it and DO NOT take it for granted

Those decisions will eventually affect them as well. The choice is, do we make decisions in the moment to help us NOW, or do we make decisions thoroughly thought out, that will help in the future.

Image result for pictures on decisions

Every time you put energy into a decision it’s a crossroads of where you may end up or at least where you’re heading.

DISCLAIMER: Overthinking and not communicating your thought process can have repercussions. That’s a piece of advice I should have followed in my life.

Image result for listen to me gifs

What has transpired in the past is ultimately who we are. Whether we choose to admit it or not, we are what we DO, not what we SAY.

“By seeking and blundering we learn.”
― Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

The growth that comes from self-reflection can benefit you tremendously. Take the time to look at every decision from each person’s perspective, seriously think about it. Don’t jump to conclusions without consulting others. Sometimes what we think is just that, merely a thought…nothing more.

The past has passed, what have we learned?

Thanks for stopping by, it’s always a pleasure.

Growth 101: Surround yourself with Drive

Growth 101: Surround yourself with Drive

The people that you surround yourself, ultimately make you who you are.

Take a moment and ask yourself, who do I spend the majority of my time with? Do these people push me to be more? Are they trying to become more and grow into something greater?

Yes we all have friends who are always doing something new and exciting, do you associate yourself with that?

Think about it. What do we do that helps us get to a ‘whole nother level’?

More importantly, are these people honest with you? There’s no point in surrounding  yourself with a bunch of yes-men/women (I don’t discriminate).

Image result for popstar gifs

If the people you’re constantly in contact with aren’t upfront and honest with you, what’s the point? More along the lines of calling you out on your bullshit, those people want to see you grow. They call you out because they don’t want you sounding like an ass-hat.

Image result for you sound stupid gifs

Thanks Morgan…moving on.

The main purpose of discussing people you surround yourself with, is that they ultimately will help you or hurt you on your climb for success.

How do we improve ourselves through the people we surround ourselves with?

Napoleon Hill, author of “Think and Grow Rich“, has a principle called the ‘Mastermind Principle’. As he defines it,

“The coordination of knowledge and effort of two or more people, who work toward a definite purpose, in the spirit of harmony.”

He continues…

“No two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind [the master mind].”

The video below is Napoleon Hill describing in detail what the principle is and how to apply it. These are important lessons to understand to accelerate your growth.

WATCH IT! It’s only 3 minutes, you can spare that time.

Furthermore, a great summary of the benefits of Mastermind Group comes from the blog The Success Alliance, they describe it below;

In a mastermind group, the agenda belongs to the group and each person’s participation and commitment is key. Your mastermind partners give you feedback, help you brainstorm new possibilities, and set up accountability structures that keep you focused and on track. You create a community of supportive colleagues who brainstorm together to move the members to new heights.

You’ll gain tremendous insights which improve your business and personal life. Your mastermind group is like having a objective board of directors, a success team, and a peer advisory group, all rolled into one.

Whether you find an existing mastermind group to join, or start a group of your own, you’ll love what this group process can help you accomplish.

This post was inspired by the book, “Think and Grow Rich” and “The Keys to Success“. When you have a core group of people that are ultimately a step ahead of you or pushing as hard as you are, you have something to cherish. Discuss ideas, not people. This expands your mind and creates a bond with the core group.

Look out for each other. You have skills that others do not possess. Understand where your weaknesses are and find people who have those skills, together you are now much greater. You are growing and growth is essential to success.

Looking for more information on how/why you should start a mastermind group? Here’s a great article from Forbes magazine. The 7 Reasons To Join A Mastermind Group. Enjoy.

The Mastermind Group, create yours.

Growth 101: How did you get there?

Growth 101: How did you get there?

Good fine Friday! Let’s take a moment and reflect on where we are and where we want to go! My blog will be making a bit of a change. I want this place to be where you can learn how other’s have climbed the ladder to success. No journey will be the same, but if someone can take something away from it, then it’s a success.

We’re all on our own journey to discover ourselves, more than that we’re on a path to the life that we’ve dreamed of, focused on and worked for.

Yet there’s really no blue-print on how to get there. Yes, of course there are all those self-help books that you can fill your house with. Still, there’s nothing that allows for people to describe their story on how they came into that job/role/career!

This is what I’m proposing.

  1. Weekly discussions with someone who has been fortunate enough to have earned a kick-ass career.
  2. Discussions on how they got there, their set-backs and motivations that helped them arrive at success.
  3. Advice for those who are looking for that role but have NO idea how to get there.
  4. A platform to ask questions and add value you anyone looking for that guidance.

When I started, it was a blank canvass. I had no map, chart or direction. The only thing that I knew was that I was going to be the best in the world at inspiring people.

I LOVE to see people succeed. I want to see this entire world reach their potential and realize how incredibly talented each and everyone one of us is!

This is the next step.

Shall we…
