Comfort vs. Discomfort
Hello friends, hope you’re doing well. Toss on your swim suit because we’re diving in.
There’s always change and flux in our lives that, in turn, we crave that safe feeling of comfort. When you take a moment to reflect on comfort versus discomfort, there are few thoughts that come to mind. In times of discomfort you’re forced to grow or learn in order to adapt to the situation.
Whether that’s learning how to socialise at networking events or even physically when you’re younger and experiencing growing pains. There is discomfort but from that discomfort comes strength, confidence and a distinct ability to endure. You’ve grown, you’ve become more.
“If you want something you’ve never had.
You must be willing to do something you’ve never done.”
What does discomfort mean to you? Are you afraid of it?
Anything that’s challenging the way you conduct yourself presently, forces you to adapt. You can choose to rise to the occasion or admit defeat and stay exactly where you are.
The choice is entirely yours.
The cliche comment is always to ‘step out side your comfort-zone.’
I think the question is not whether we should step out, rather why aren’t we living outside of out. If you’re always uncomfortable, you’re growing. Like a tree, the faster you establish a firm foundation, your ability to rise will be greatly benefited.
“Solitary trees, if they grow at all, grow strong.”
That’s not to say that you shouldn’t have a place where you feel comfortable. I think it’s a balance, in my opinion having that comfort zone is equally important. Because if you’re always uncomfortable, it’s nice to have a place where you can reflect on what you’ve learned. If you’re going to be comfortable, make sure you’re using that time to reflect on the experiences of the uncomfortable. You’ll see more, know more and be more.
